Ok condition, good enough for class.
This tome offers a plethora of varied perspectives on the main philosophical issues explored through the ages. Overall it presents most views on each topic, with the editor adding his own view in the mix on occasion.
Bought for a course a couple years back, but ended up never reading it.
I needed this book for a college course, and overall it served it's purpose well. I enjoyed the content on a personal level, but it probably would not be my first choice if I was looking to buy a book on philosophy for personal reading.
Received quick and in good shape. Easy and interesting read.
This is one of the few textbooks I have ever been required to purchase that I actually enjoy reading. There are typically both sides of any given argument right next to each other in the book. Following each side of the argument are questions that help you understand your own thoughts on the subject matter, rather than try to guide you down one path or the other.
If you're into Philosophy I'm sure this book will serve you well. It was required for the Philosophy course I'm taking in college. It's not the easiest to understand and I found myself re-reading a lot of the material to truly grasp what some of the older Philosopher's (Plato, Kant, Mill, Hume) are trying to say or not to say! There is some more current ones in there from the 20th century, which are easier to follow. Like I said, you have to be into Philosophy to like this book, it's not a lay mans book, but not super advanced either. Try at your own risk, Philosophy just isn't my thing.....
